SiteWatch server has high CPU usage after installing SiteWatch 3.1

The SiteWatch server computer may have abnormally high CPU usage after installing SiteWatch 3.1. You may also see many events in the server's Event Viewer Application Log reporting ImageThread errors.

e-Watch has released a new version of the camera and encoder firmware to correct this problem. If you have installed SiteWatch version 3.1 and have installed firmware version 3.1.1.1 on your cameras and encoders, you should upgrade to firmware version 3.1.2.1.

Follow these steps to upgrade your firmware.

  1. Download firmware version 3.1.2.1 here. Firmware version 3.1.2.1 is also available on the e-Watch FTP site at ftp://www.e-watch.com/SiteWatch 3.1/Firmware.
  2. Copy the downloaded file EW.3.1.2.1.rom into the e-Watch firmware folder, typically C:\e-watch\firmware. The previous firmware file, EW.3.1.1.1.rom should also be in this folder.
  3. To enable the e-Watch Service to automatically update your cameras and encoders, run the e-Watch Server Application, set the value of FirmwareVersion to 3.1.2.1, and set the value of FirmwareAutoUpdate to true. Set the value of TFTPServerEnable to true unless you are using a third-party TFTP server.
  4. To manually update your cameras and encoders, run the e-Watch Firmware Application.
