ViewWatch video panes are black after installing SiteWatch 3.1

ViewWatch video panes may display black video on some Windows XP computers after installing SiteWatch 3.1.

This occurs because ViewWatch requires specific Windows Media Player video acceleration settings to provide the best possible video quality. ViewWatch is designed to set the video acceleration settings automatically, but this may fail on some computers.

To correct the problem on an individual computer, follow these steps to set the Windows Media Player video acceleration settings manually.

  1. Close ViewWatch.
  2. Open Windows Media Player.
  3. If the menu bar is not visible, right click in the title bar at the top of the window and click Show Menu Bar.
  4. Click Tools in the menu bar.
  5. Click Options.
  6. Click the Performance tab.
  7. Click the Advanced button in the Video acceleration section.
  8. Remove the check mark from the Use video mixing renderer checkbox in the Video Acceleration section (not in the DVD video section).
  9. Click the OK button.
  10. Click the OK button.
  11. When prompted whether to apply the new settings, click the Yes button.
  12. Close Windows Media Player.
  13. Open ViewWatch.

A patch for SiteWatch 3.1 is available that will enable ViewWatch to set the Windows Media Player video acceleration settings automatically. Click here to download the patch.
