Technical Issues

I get an AdoException error

This error is usually caused by upgrading from an earlier version of ViewWatch. The error is caused because one of the databases cannot be found.

Versions 2.4 and 2.5 may write the following error to the Aplication Log:
com.ms.wfc.data.AdoException: 'C:\ewatch\databases\alarm.mdb' is not a valid path.
Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.

The problem arises if SiteWatch is installed into C:\EWATCH (Version 2.3 default
folder), later re-installed into C:\E-WATCH (Version 2.4 and later default folder), and
the old accesscontrol.mdb database file is moved from C:\EWATCH\DATABASES to
C:\E-WATCH\DATABASES. This breaks a hardcoded database link within
accesscontrol.mdb that points to C:\EWATCH\DATABASES.

To correct the problem, the database links in the accesscontrol.mdb file must be refreshed
to point to the new location. Microsoft Access is required to accomplish this. If
Microsoft Access 2000 is used, the database files must be upgraded. This will require
installing the latest version of the Jet driver, and copying the latest version of
compact.cmd into C:\E-WATCH\EXE.
