ViewWatch fails to load after installing Microsoft Internet Explorer update 912945 This problem can occur when running ViewWatch on a computer with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Server 2003 Service Pack 1 after installing a Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) update. ViewWatch displays the gray map area in the upper left portion of the screen, the blue video area in the upper right portion of the screen, and the gray control area along the bottom of the screen. ViewWatch then appears to stop loading or "hang". This problem is caused by Microsoft Internet Explorer ActiveX Update 912945, and applies to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1. Windows 2000 computers are not affected. The update alters the way that IE loads ActiveX controls in a manner that interferes with SiteWatch Version 3.0.11 and earlier. Although IE Update 912945 is NOT a security update, it is included in IE Cumulative Security Update 912812 which Microsoft has released on the Microsoft Update website. It will be installed by computers with "Automatic Updates" enabled. Computers with ActiveX Update 912945 or Cumulative Security Update 912812 installed will exhibit the problem. Microsoft has provided a "Compatibility Patch" to disable the behavior of IE Update 912945. According to Microsoft TechNet, the "Compatibility Patch" is temporary and will not work after installing the IE Cumulative Security Update scheduled for release in June, 2006. SiteWatch Version 3.0.11 Internet Explorer Update is available to provide a permanent solution. This problem is corrected in SiteWatch Version 3.1. There are four ways to solve this problem.
Customers who have maintenance agreements in good standing will receive the SiteWatch Version 3.0.11 Internet Explorer Update and SiteWatch Version 3.1. Customers who wish to inquire concerning the status of their maintenance agreements should send an e-mail message to sales@e-watch.com.
