Technical Issues

The Verify Filter or Define Events window does not open correctly

SiteWatch Version 3: When the main ViewWatch window opens, a small window is opened in the upper left corner of the screen to check the installation status of the e-Watch video filters. Normally, this window displays the text "Verifying Filters", then either closes or prompts you to install the filters. Under certain conditions, the Verify Filter window may not open correctly. It may display an Active Server Pages (ASP) error message or appear to "hang".

SiteWatch Version 4 or later: The Define Events window may not open correctly. The window may display an Active Server Pages (ASP) error message or appear to "hang".

These problems can occur when the Internet Information Services (IIS) anonymous user does not have full permission to the e-Watch database files and to the ODBC registry key.

Follow these steps to correct this problem.

  1. Open the Administrative Tools program folder and start the Internet Information Services snap-in.
  2. Open the Web Sites tree in the left panel, right-click Default Web Site, and select Properties from the context menu.
  3. Click the Directory Security tab.
  4. In the box labeled "Anonymous access and authentication control", click the Edit button.
  5. Verify that the checkbox labeled "Anonymous access" is checked, and make a note of the User name.
  6. Grant full permissions to the IIS anonymous user to the e-Watch database folder, typically C:\e-watch\databases. Make sure that the changes are applied to all of the files in this folder.
  7. Grant full permission to the IIS anonymous user to the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC.
