Technical Issues

While replacing a camera, an unwanted New Camera is created

While replacing a camera by following the procedure described in the document Replacing Cameras, an unwanted "New Camera" may be added to the e-Watch camera database with the old camera's MAC address.

This problem can occur in SiteWatch 3.0.11.  To avoid the problem, the old camera must be removed from the e-Watch server's list of active cameras before the replacement camera is installed.

Set up a ViewWatch station to receive server alerts, as shown below.  Make sure that the station status is "On".

After the old camera is removed from the network, a popup message will appear on the ViewWatch station as shown below.  You can use the e-Watch Server Application to change the registry item CameraCheckInterval to reduce the amount of time before the message appears.

Click the "Remove" button.  This will remove the old camera from the e-Watch server's list of active cameras.  You can then proceed with the camera replacement procedure described in the document Replacing Cameras.

This problem is fixed in SiteWatch 3.1.
